Legendary NYC house duo Masters At Work will DJ together early next month for the first time in four years.

MAW – Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez and ‘Little’ Louie Vega – will play ‘back to back’ across ‘four decks’ at London’s Proud2 space on June 3, during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend. The party, hosted by soulful club brand Groove Odyssey, also promises appearances from Bobby & Steve, Groove Assassin and 24 carat vocalist Dajae (performing classic hits Brighter Days and Don’t You Want My Love), not to mention backrooms hosted by HouseFM and Big Apple veteran John Morales, who spins classic Eighties soul, funk and disco.

MAW’s reputation more than precedes them. The pair, whose peerless back catalogue includes The Nervous Track, To Be In Love and Let’s Groove, not to mention cult remixes of everyone from Mondo Grosso to Janet Jackson, haven’t performed or recorded together for quite some time now. Vega has been developing artists and projects through his own eponymous label, including African sensation Boddhi Satva, whilst ‘Dope’ has been working with funkster Keb Darge, former Blaze man Josh Milan and a plethora of hip-hop and R&B artists.

Gonzalez recently hinted to Defected that reunion gigs may eventually lead to new MAW studio material but qualified: “For now we both have a lot of our own projects we need to do.”
