Award-winning darling of the house underground Maya Jane Coles has selected and mixed the latest fabric compilation – edition number 75.
Coles promises percussive, saw-edged grooves, but tempered by keen melodies and warm production flow as is her trademark. Artists featured include Trus’me, Mathew Jonson (remixed by Dixon), Baikal, Paul Woolford, DJ Yellow (with Flowers And Sea Creatures) and NT89. There are also contributions from Coles herself – an edit of the Volta Cab remix of Ksky’s Madness and previously unreleased production Premonition. fabric was, apparently, one of the first clubs Coles ever partied at.
fabric 75 follows the release, last year, of Coles’ acclaimed debut studio album Comfort. It also follows an outing for !K7 Records’ highly influential DJ-Kicks series, as well as EPs for labels such as 20:20 Vision, Hypercolour, Mobilee, Real Tone and Dogmatik (which released her debut single Sick Panda back in 2008). Coles has also successfully launched her own house label I/AM/ME (home to Comfort) and grown her international DJ status massively – Rolling Stone currently has her as one of the 25 most influential DJs on the planet.
