David Penn is one of Spain’s best and best-known DJ/producers, and an international name in his own right. He’s had worldwide house hits, including the massive ‘The Night Train’ under the name Kadoc in the mid-90s; scooped a string of awards for his DJing, production and Urbana label; and is part of the New Iberican League with DJ Chus and Abel Ramos.
Now forming part of the Iberican League project alongside fellow Spanish cohorts DJ Chus and Abel Ramos, David was the go-to man to mix the forthcoming Defected In The House Miami '11 compilation. Here, he talks us through some of his favourite tracks from the mix.
David Penn feat Monia Amore – Ocean Drive (Open Your Mind) (Original Mix)
This is my new single and I am very proud of it. It reminds me of the kind of tracks I used to love from around 1999 – 2002.
Central Avenue - Pushin´ (Original Mix)
This track is a version of the Eddie Amador track, and I signed it as soon as I heard it for my label. It’s completely unreleased before the Miami compilation.
Rober Gaez & Ruben Alvarez feat Daren J. Bell – It´s Just Begun (Original)
A great adaptation of the classic Jimmy Castor Bunch song, using some parts of the original song but adding in a few modern touches. Love it.
Bass Kleph & Flithy Rich - These Mornings
Very original and effective, one of the tracks that will be huge in Miami this year for sure.
David Penn - Bolonia Instrumental Mix
+ Warren Clark feat Kathy Brown – Over You (Divapella)
This is previously unreleased and I wanted to include it on Miami compilation along with the Kathy Brown accapella, as I do this a lot it my sets and it always seems to go down well.
David Morales – I Make You Gaga (DJ Chus In Stereo Remix)
This is an unreleased remix of a David Morales’ song. I just love the vibe of this remix.
Studio Apartment ft Rae - Your Words (David Penn Vocal Mix)
When Defected sent me this track to remix it, I was not sure about what to do, but when you get good elements like this it’s more difficult to mess it up than do it right! I am really happy with it and I have received some great feedback already.
Rober Gaez – Make Me Love You
Another bomb from Rober Gaez that is also previously unreleased. This will be forthcoming on Urbana with some other tracks of his.
David Herrero – Clap Your Hands
David is one of the new talents of the Spanish scene. I have known him from some years and I am so happy that he has had his first release on Defected…I just love his productions.

This is originally a Rober Gaez mash up and I wanted to include on the compilation, as it just works so well.
Abel Ramos feat Erire – Dream Come True (DJ Chus & David Penn Iberican Mix)
One of the first collaborations with the project Iberican League It’s getting some really great support from lots of DJs, and is the first step into this new movement. Absolutely had to be on Miami´11.
