Mixmag have announced the results of their Greatest Dance Act, with UK rave outfit The Prodigy coming in at No.1
In what they said was a closely run vote, the group responsible for anthems such as ‘Poison’, ‘Firestarter’ and the infamous ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ held off strong competition from French duo Daft Punk, who had to make do with second place.
UK acts – perhaps unsurprisingly – occupied many of the higher positions, with The Chemical Brothers at three and Faithless at four, while big-eared opinion-divider Deadmau5 completed the top five.
Keith Flint of The Prodigy commented: “To walk off a stage and feel like we smashed it – that’s the reward for us, to see the crowd react and know we’ve done what we’ve come to do. But something like this is truly voted for by the people – and essentially we are nothing without them, so it feels awesome and really respectful.”
