Word reaches us that Brit garage star MJ Cole is gearing up for his first major musical assault in several years – Matt Coleman, the classically trained musician cum garage DJ and producer, finally has a new mainstream album on the way.
“I’ve got about 25 tracks floating around. I’m not sure quite which way it’s gonna go exactly yet but it’s gonna come together in the next few months,” Cole explains. “The album might be at the end of the year, we’re not in a big hurry…. But we’ve got the next few singles lined up already. We know where we’re at.”
Former Mercury Prize nominee Cole, behind Top 10 hits Sincere and Crazy Love, has been working with old cohorts Lifford and Gabriella, as well as the likes of Serocee, a regular dancehall collaborator with Toddla T. Cole is promising both dancehall and ‘UK Funky’ vibes on the new long-player, as well as pop-orientated material and a few trademark jazz-garage belters.
Cole has just released a new single, Gotta Have It, with East London’s fast rising ‘voice of the street’ Digga. The urban singer-songwriter was recently snapped up by Atlantic Records.
