MK’s seminal ‘Burning’ has been remixed by two of the freshest production outfits on the circuit, James Talk & Ridney and Round Table Knights.
‘Burning’ is the quintessential MK tune. Nearly 20 years old yet sounding as fresh as the day it first surfaced, it still inspires clubbers and producers alike to this day and is one of those tracks that pretty much any producer worth their salt would love to get their hands on.
Step forward two production outfits that are no strangers to a bit of success themselves, and who have added their own touch to what has to be considered one of the most influential house records of all time.
James Talk & Ridney’s remix remains close to the original, merely tweaking a few of the key elements and adding extra weight with a new heavy bassline to complement their deep, rolling groove.
“We wanted to keep the original essence of the record, but update the vibe for 2011” says Ridney of their re-work. “We thought it was important to keep the melody and vocals intact and not cut things up too much, keeping the mix true and adding our own drums and bassline.
“We love what we've done on the mix as it fits perfectly for where we are at musically -
the club reactions have been amazing!”
Round Table Knights have gone even deeper in the arrangement however, looping up those unmistakable stabs for a slick, driving slice of tech house.
“We felt very honoured when defected asked us to remix such a classic track and we already knew from the beginning what kind of remix we wanted to do.
“We wanted to keep it raw, in the spirit of the original with a twist of Round Table Knights style in it. We're really happy with the result and the reactions we got so far were amazing.”
Burning is available now from Beatport and Traxsource
