Idiosyncratic San Franciscan Mark Farina is back with a seventh edition of his now infamous Mushroom Jazz compilation series.
Farina created the ‘Mushroom Jazz’ phrase back in the mid-90s when he released his first official comp based on the unique DJ-style he’d been successfully trialling in California – a mix of soulful house, jack, techno, hip-hop, jazz and quirky down-beat.
The new album, Mushroom Jazz 7, presents more chilled breaks, urban grooves and funky dance from music-makers such as King Kooba, Tommy Largo and Andy Caldwell.
It’s out via Mushroom Jazz Recordings on November 9.
