Voting has closed on Most Rated 2009 and we can now exclusively reveal which tracks have made it onto the compilation.
For the last few weeks, we’ve let you decide which tracks from a carefully selected list should make it onto Defected’s final major compilation of the year. You visited the site in your thousands and rated the tracks, arguing about the merits of one over another, and it was incredible to share in your obvious passion for the year’s music. More than 50 tracks were shortlisted, from which the top 20 rated have been chosen and we think you’ve done a pretty good job of putting together a truly epic compilation., which will be released 7th December...check out the promo video here to listen to all the tracks that made it.
The first track we should mention was the latest addition to the voting. Dennis Ferrer’s ‘Hey Hey’ was a last-minute signing on Defected this year, and we think it’s got the potential to be one of the biggest records of 2010. Clocking up an incredible 50,000 views on YouTube in only 10 days, this has been widely praised by everyone from Pete Tong, Erick Morillo , Silicone Soul, Dixon and Dimitri from Paris. Most Rated 2009 is the only compilation to feature ‘Hey Hey’. Check out the promo video right here..
Also worth a special mention are Reboot’s ‘Enjoy Music’ and Copyright’s mix of Michel Cleis’ ‘La Mezcla’; both massive tunes in Ibiza this season and championed by DJs and clubbers around the world. La Mezcla won DJ Mag’s ‘Ibiza Tune of the Year’ and was made Tong’s Essential New Tune after he span it in seven weeks in a row!

It’s not all about catalogue tracks though. While we like to think we’re responsible for a pretty decent amount of quality house music, we know that there have been some amazing records released by other labels that we simply couldn’t ignore. That’s why you’ll find artists such as Faithless, Underworld, D.Ramirez, Mark Knight, Joris Voorn, Axwell, Steve Angello, Laidback Luke and Mendo rubbing shoulder with Frankie Knuckles & the Shapeshifters, ATFC, Erick Morillo, Copyright and John Dahlback in arguably the largest collection of talent we’ve had on one release.
