Move D (AKA David Moufang) is the latest artist to be attached to fabric’s long-running compilation series.
fabric 74 is supposedly driven by Moufang’s memories of emotive DJ sets at Wales’ supremely deep and eclectic electronic festival Freerotation. “The first time I heard about fabric was through an old friend, Peter (Baby) Ford – it must have been the only 2000s – way before I ever got booked to play there” Moufang explains. “He told me about fabric being the only good club left in London, supporting the underground scene, which by its nature made the event something very special to me, and it still is.”
fabric 74 brings together the cult contemporary (Juju & Jordash’s Loosey Goosey, Smallpeople & Rau’s Unke), forgotten classics (Roy Davis Jr’s Under Tha Sun, Liberty City’s (AKA Murk) early 90s slink Some Lovin) and unreleased exclusives (Move D/D Man’s own Luybyrds).
Fabric Records releases fabric 74 on February 24; the club hosts a launch party on February 22, featuring D alongside Juju & Jordash and Music Director Craig Richards.
