Hercules & Love Affair big cheese Andrew Butler has confirmed details for a new record label which will focus almost entirely on retro house and techno.
According to an official press release, the new label, Mr INTL, will launch with a collaboration between Butler and Jason Kendig (of San Francisco’s Honey Soundsystem posse) entitled And I’m (So In Love With You). The track, released digitally August 30, features remixes by Deetron and KiNK; earlier this summer, Butler and Kendig gave Madonna’s Into The Groove some twisted white label attention.
On Mr INTL Butler comments: “I’ve been pretty hard ass with people in terms of what the output is. I don’t want anything that sounds pre-’85 or post-’94.” Rumours are already circulating that a Mr INTL DJ tour is on the horizon; meantime, Hercules & Love Affair’s next album, Blue Songs, is supposedly now due in the New Year.
