Native Instruments, leading manufacturer of music production and DJ software, have today released a Traktor DJ app for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. The move follows the introduction of Traktor to the iPad in February.
Billed as the world’s smallest professional DJ solution, the new apps allow DJs – both up-and-comers and veterans - to access thousands of tracks from their pocket and mix them with the same advanced features as Traktor’s main computer platform.
Like the iPad app, Traktor’s new iPhone and iPod Touch formats retain many of the original software’s features whilst adding smart touchscreen functionality – DJs can scratch, cue and loop by touching a track’s waveforms directly. The app offers the same dedicated 3-band EQ and filter sections, and 8 proven Traktor effects; and uses the same algorithmic programming to better analyse downbeats and aid mixing, as well as suggest new tracks based on the tempos and harmonic structure of the current play. An advanced Freeze Mode lets DJs slice up waveforms into playable sections for off-the-cuff live remixing and creative performances.
Once again, Native Instruments’ new apps fully integrate with iTunes and Traktor Pro (via Dropbox). Users can cue up via headphones and pair their Apple devices with Traktor’s Audio 6 and 10 interface platforms via the Apple camera connection kit, and an app Notification Centre allows them to learn at their own pace , providing relevant tips, tricks and techniques.
Native Instruments’ Traktor DJ for iPhone and iPod Touch is out today via Apple’s App Store, priced £3.99 and $4.99.
