Organisers of major Barcelona-based electronic festival Sonar have confirmed a new venue ‘By Day’, as well as several new performers.
Derrick May, Seth Troxler, TNGHT, Justice, Matthew Herbert, Laurent Garnier, Major Lazer and Raime will join the already announced likes of Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys and Grammy winner Skrillex this June 13-15.
Whilst Sonar’s official ‘By Night’ programme is staying put at state-of-the-art Barcelona space Fira Gran Via, its daytime events – a mixture of lectures, screenings, showcases, business seminars and workshops – will now move to Fira Montjuic in Placa d’Espanya, the city’s other major exhibition space. It is the first time in 19 years that Sonar’s ‘By Day’ schedule (previously at the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona) has shifted location.
Sonar organisers will retain the festival’s four daytime stages, SonarVillage, SonarHall, SonarDome and SonarComplex, but each will have a bigger capacity. Visit www.sonar.es for more details; further names are still to be announced.
