American-Chilean house sensation Nicolas Jaar is to play London’s Barbican space this autumn as part of the venue’s Transcender 2013 season.

Transcender, now in its fifth year, explores ‘ecstatic, devotional and psychedelic music from across the globe’ – music from all ages and backgrounds with a trend towards ecstatic repetition and peaks.  Jaar’s performance, on October 5, features support from psychedelic light and visuals guru Joshua White, AKA Joshua Light Show.  Listeners can expect a mix of the afro-jazz, lounge pop and digital house sounds that have rapidly propelled Jaar to clubland’s forefront since the release of 2011 debut album Space Is The Only Noise.

Joshua White also supports Pantha Du Prince and Matthew Herbert the evening before, October 4.  Herbert collaborates with Euro music collective stargaze to reinterpret Terry Riley’s famous 1964 electronic composition In C – Riley is widely regarded as the father of musical minimalism and hypnotic repetition.  Du Prince, meanwhile, revisits his partnership with percussive ensemble The Bell Laboratory to recreate In C with chimes and bells positioned in and around Riley’s vintage electronic pulses.
