In advance of the release of Defected In The House Miami ’12, Noir talks us through the selections for his mix. Beware…heavy bassslines ahead!!

Pillowtalk - Soft (Life & Death Remix)
I think all the tracks from the Life & Death label have great personality and I absolutely love this track. Pillowtalk is definitely a name to watch for 2012 as they are doing some great tracks. The Life and Death remix of ‘Soft’ is just so emotional and I have started a lot of sets with this track, so decided to make it a starter for this compilation as well. Pure love that pierces right through the chest and into the heart.

Hunter/Game - Touch Me (Original Mix)
One of the tracks I feel has been overlooked, never really got the attention it deserved if you ask me. It’s another track I have supported a lot and a common question in the clubs when I have played this track has been: "wtf is that, sounds amazing". The mood of the track and the vocals are so infectious. Hunter/Game simply produced a little pearl that I feel you all need to know and LOVE.

Guy Robin - Heaven Or Hell (Noir "Do Not Repeat" Edit)
This track is from Defected and the best track from Guy Robin to date. I love the oldschool "Show Me Love" vibe of the track. The vocal line is great too although I didn’t feel the repeated parts that much, hence the title of the special edit I did. One of those tracks that keeps the girls on the floor and can be mixed into anything because of the old school feel of the track.

Tevo Howard & Tracey Thorn - Without Me (Noir & Martin Thompson Remix)
To spice up the track-selection I added an exclusive remix done my buddy Martin Thompson and me. You can only get this remix via this Miami compilation and I have been asked a lot for this remix as it was done quite some time ago, so naturally I played it in the clubs and I must confess… a lot of DJs have hated me for not sharing this one earlier. But here it is finally. Gotta love those vocals by Tracey Thorn, one of my all-time favourite singer/songwriters.

Maceo Plex - Under The Sheets (Original Mix)
Maceo Plex is one of my favourite producers. His productions sound super crisp and they always work a treat in the clubs. "Under The Sheets" is maybe my favourite track from him and so I had to squeeze that into the selection. I know this has been a big hit among the deep house heads, so most of you might know this one, but who gives a f...! when it’s a freakin' nice track.

Toky - About You (Hot Since 82 Remix)
You better watch this Italian guy. Toky is about to crave world domination with his fine productions and vocal work. I am very impressed with his work and this one I also coming from my own NM2 (Noir Music 2) label. Daley Padley aka Hot Since 82 did the remix of this track and simply took it to another level. Big love for all the emotion and atmosphere that has put into this track and remix. Standout flavour.

Noir & Haze - Around (Solomun Vox Remix)
Naturally I had to include the immense Solomun remix of my own "Around" with Haze doing the vocal work. This track created some of the best "sing a-long" reactions I have ever received on my own music and I am so happy I chose Solomun for the remix cause I could not have asked for anything better than this. It’s so simple, slo-mo and in my opinion Solomun's best work to date.

DJ Ali - You Don’t Know (Matt Tolfrey Remix)
I love the fact that the "Classic" label is re-issuing their old releases and having new remixes done. I have a lot of their 12" vinyl from back in the days, so great memories listening to those tracks again. This is the first Matt Tolfrey production I played to death. It’s just so extremely deep, groovy and I feel I can use it and mix it into anything at anytime during a set.  Another track I have played a lot and another one I feel many DJs have overlooked.

DJ T ft Khan - Leavin' Me (Clockwork Remix)
The original of this one is good. Dj T's own remix of it is even better, but this Clockwork remix just tops it and takes "Leavin' Me" to a higher place. It’s so damn dirty and when the kick and sub hits back in people just go crazy in the clubs. This is how proper dirty house with gloomy vocals should sound like. I can almost smell the smoke from back in the days when it was allowed to smoke in the clubs. Proper underground house feel.

Borderline - Stay (Original Mix)
Full on stomper that could've been produced by Maceo Plex. This just sounds phat and still leaves hints of disco. The looped vocals reminds me a little of something sampled from a new wave band from the 80s and it says nothing but "stay" but it works. It seems to surprise me, cause every time I play it and see the reactions I am like "why don’t I play this every time"?

Detroit Grand Pubahs - Club Sandwiches (Marc Romboy Remix)
Another re-release of an older track that i used to play a lot on 12". When I heard this track was given a re-release I decided to pick up the old vinyl and start playing that again cause I didn’t think anything could beat the old version which still sounds extremely fresh. But I was pleasantly surprised by Marc Romboy who took it in another direction and somehow still kept the original feel of the track. Very well done and clever remix.

Nicolas Masseyeff - Mugen (Original Mix)
First time I played this in the clubs I was blown away. Even though I knew how great it sounded in my home studio it still overwhelmed me in the clubs. Fatter than the fattest sounding tracks with a very quirky and unique breakdown that seems to make the crowds anticipate the beats even more. This is pure underground and the filters wobbling up and down keeps you hooked all the way. Love at first listen for me and then it grew even bigger over time.

Mendo & Yvan Genkins - Preacher (Original Mix)
Straight-forward, hard-hitting house representing Switzerland, a fine signing for Defected and one of those tracks that really works in bigger clubs and for the festivals. Normally I am not that much into spoken word preaching tracks, but this one I love. Sounds best when played extremely LOUD and this is a fine example of the fact that straight forward house never goes out of style when done really well.

Inner City - Future (Kenny Larkin Remix)
The artist names involved here already looks great on paper. You know you're gonna like this even before listening. Then again, Kenny Larkin is not doing the obvious thing with the remix but instead teasing the crap out of people and spicing it all up with the wonderfully weird vocal effects. Techno at its best and great way to round of the mix. A big scoop for Defected with such a huge record. Inner City is back after 15 years and it sounds like they never left. Big fan.
