What a fortnight! Fashion, hip hop, house music, sailing boats and more fashion!
I spent the early part of last week sailing/driving/shazzing around the island being shot for the new Daisy Jewellery campaign – SO much fun, working alongside the awesome photographer Marc Todd and Lady Gaga’s ex-creative director Matt Williams. We shot on a gorgeous sailing boat at Tago Mago; in the back of my 80s car and also at Can Basora – surely one of Ibiza’s most incredible houses. The final shots were at Punta Galera at sunset – heaven.
The week before had been equally epic – spending the afternoon chilling with 50 Cent at his hotel is not an everyday occurrence and he was a TOTAL dude. I was interviewing him about his thoughts on the recent hip hop takeover of dance music, and how he feels it has affected Ibiza and the scene as a whole. Seriously one of the smartest people I’ve ever interviewed and my new crush. Loved it.
There’s been lots of downtime too amongst the madness – we spent the most glorious afternoon at Es Xarcu on Friday – surely one of Ibiza’s finest seafood restaurants - yet somehow still manages to feel like a well-kept secret. Their sea bass baked in salt is seriously next-level.
Hero of the fortnight has to go to Danny Tenaglia – absolutely smashing both Ushuaia for his classics party AND Pacha for Subliminal Sessions – Erick Morillo even had him play the closing set (pretty unusual), and Steve Angello had booked the best table in the house. Loving the support between the guys there.
The Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes just keeps on delivering, with the afterparty of the 2ManyDJs/Azari & III gig being no disappointment. Everyone who’s anyone seems to be there - surely the ultimate late-night hangout and somehow always manages to feel like your own party. Pikes is also ridiculously cool for lazy Sundays by the pool and neon pink tennis. Love that place.
Defected on Saturday was another case of ‘everyone who’s anyone’ being there, with Simon Dunmore holding court over a booth full of peeps that included ATFC, Sam Divine, Erick Morillo’s PA Caroline Harrington and about a zillion other Ibiza faces. Despite the heat the party was kicking right from the start, and by the time midnight came around the crowd wanted more. I love the full Saturday takeover idea – it’s such a cool vibe going from one Defected party (Ushuaia) straight on to another (Pacha) – there’s a real festival feeling when you see the same people again when you get to the club.
Summer Saturdays forever please
