It’s been an incredible 16 weeks over on the White Isle, but now, as the season draws to a weary but triumphant close, it’s time for arguably the most infamous events on the island; The Closing Parties!
During what has been our busiest season yet, with tens of thousands of you packing Pacha to the rafters over the last few months, we’ve has some pretty special moments, with the 4th September event laying strong claim to being the party of the season so far. “We've been playing Defected parties for the best part of five years” said Copyright’s Sam Holt of the gig “but the 4th September with Simon, has to be one of the best parties we have ever done. The whole season has been amazing but this was a special night. The reaction from the crowd was amazing. When Simon played his last track at 7am the reaction was crazy...people were grabbing each other and going mad...and so were we”.
However, it’s just possible that we may have saved the very best till last.
Headlining on Saturday 25th September will be Bob Sinclar; a DJ known to pretty much everyone who has even a passing interest in house music and a bonefide superstar. This will be his 4th appearance for Defected In The House – no one else has played more for us this season – and as has been exclusive to Defected for the entire season, this is the only place you’ll catch him. This is also the most Bob has ever played for us in a single season, and his enthusiasm shows no sign of slowing down. "I wouldn't want to spend my time anywhere else” he says of his season’s residency. “It's the best place to party in the world. Especially Pacha, it's my favourite club by far." Plus, Bob will be rocking Café Mambo from 8pm onwards for the official pre-party. Make sure you get down there early though…it’s always a roadblock when he plays and Saturday will be no exception.
Joining Bob will be Simon Dunmore, who even by his own high standards has had an exceptional season behind the decks. He touted a night a Pacha a few weeks back as “one of the all-time classic nights” he’s ever been a part of, and you can bet your bottom dollar he’ll be doing everything he possibly can to top it on Saturday. As a soul and disco devotee, Dunmore has a habit of chucking up some special musical moments at the Closing Party, so his set is pretty much guaranteed to please.
On warm up duties will be Miss Divine, who’s debut track ‘No Grace’ is about to drop on The Shapeshifters Nocturnal Groove imprint. Miss Divine was the warm-up resident in 2009 so she’s pretty experienced in laying down the perfect early vibe to get you in the mood for the carnage to follow. Plus drum warrior Shovell will be laying down his unique live percussion throughout the night, while Rae will be performing a very special live PA of her cover of Kosheen’s ‘Hide U’, produced in collaboration with Kings of Tomorrow legend Sandy Rivera.
So, if you’ve already got your ticket, you’re in for a treat. If not, check out www.lastminute.com for flight and hotel deals and get yourself there!
And now, competition time. Throughout the season, we’ve been asking the DJs who have played for us to sign posters and vinyl in an effort to create a truly unique piece of memorabilia in memory of what has been as truly great time in our history. Happily, the vast majority of them agreed, so now we want to give them away to you! Click here for details on how to win…
