German producer Pete Namlook has died aged 52. The cause of death is not yet known, but he passed away on November 8.
Namlook, real name Peter Kuhlmann (his recording moniker pronounced backwards), was a hugely influential and prolific producer, releasing 130 albums over his career.
Known for his ambient work, he produced tracks with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Jochem Paap, Biosphere and many times with fellow German producer Move D.
He also ran the respected label Fax +49-69/450464, the name of which was also, handily, its fax number. “It is with much grief that we announce the passing of Peter Kuhlmann, AKA Pete Namlook,” read a statement from his daughter Fabia.
“We are still shocked and are working on an official announcement that will follow soon to bring clarity to our minds. As word spreads on the internet more and more we just want to make clear that he died peacefully from as yet unspecified causes on 8th November 2012.
“We will announce more details as and when they surface.”
