Cult London record shop (and label) Phonica plans to celebrate 10 years of operation with a triple-disc compilation album next month.
Ten Years Of Phonica will appear on triple-vinyl and CD, as well as digital, reflecting the brand’s taste-making nous as well as its time-honoured ability to track key trends and dancefloor habits. The album’s first two collections bring together new house material from the likes of ‘Joe’ Claussell, I:Cube, Legowelt, Mr G, Trevor Jackson, Henrik Schwarz and John Morales – the kind of material one would expect to find in the Soho (Poland Street) store. A third and final collection re-introduces cuts from Phonica’s eponymous imprint (as well as sub-labels Phonica White and Special Editions) including those by Midland and Kassem Mosse; there are also one or two previously unheard archive edits.
Phonica launches its album on February 15 at south London club Fire, featuring Mosse, Midland, Schwarz and Appleblim. The album then follows on Phonica on February 17.
