DJ equipment specialists Pioneer have announced a new club-level CD deck, the CDJ-2000nexus.

The new player builds upon the USB and memory stick compatibility innovations of its predecessor, the CDJ-2000, by being able to talk to mobile devices. Upgraded iOS (Apple) and Android-friendly Rekordbox software allows the 2000nexus to play music stored on smartphones and tablets when connected to a shared wireless network.

Pioneer’s new CDJ also caters for automatic beat matching, when several units are LAN-connected, whilst a special ‘Slip Mode’ lets DJs edit on-the-go without losing the position or speed of their original record. The 2000nexus includes the usual colour 6.1-inch screen, but upgrades its tempo-changing facilities to prevent pitch distortion, whilst Rekordbox also now offers track suggestions to match the key of the record it is currently playing.

The new Pioneer CDJ-2000nexus launches at the end of this month (date TBA) for €1899 (UK price TBA). Further details at http://pioneerdj.com
