We predict big things for our latest signing this summer.

Musician Rachel Row has been performing for the majority of her life. Graduating from Sofia's National Academy of Music, she honed her singing and songwriting talents by appearing in several musicals, and as part of a vocal trio toured with some of the biggest names in Bulgarian music. Now she's ready to roll on her own and for the last few years has been collaborating with some of the most respected names in electronic music, while live performances at MTV’s Exit Festival stage and Panorama Bar, Berlin have further cemented her growing reputation.

“I am really into the 90s UK rave sound - breakbeat, jungle and neo-techno” says Rachel of her own tastes. “I like the idea of marrying this sound to the rich soul music from the 60s and inviting a bit of 80s pop music as the maid of honour…oh yeah, and a bouquet of classical vocals”.

'Follow The Step' is undoubtedly her breakthrough record; a hauntingly beautiful, exquisitely produced record that immediately struck a chord with everyone at Defected. Originally signed to Catz ‘n Dogz’s Pets Recordings, the record was remixed by KiNK, Justin Martin and Trikk but was snapped up only last week by the Defected A&R team who see a bright future for both the record and Rachel Row herself.

With Ibiza fast approaching and a huge remix package due for release in the next couple of months, you can expect ‘Follow The Step’ to be a permanent fixture on dancefloors around the globe.

Follow The Step – including the remixes from KiNK, Justin Martin and Trikk – is out 29th April on Defected Records
