Hot Natured and Hot Creations loyalist Richy Ahmed has mixed the latest Rinse compilation, volume number 23.
The album marks a change in direction for the Rinse FM-driven series, being that Ahmed is not a regular DJ at the East London station. The style of music on offer is also at a remove from Rinse’s usual taut, urban brew of grime, UK garage and dubstep.
As such, Ahmed steps up with a mix of classic and contemporary groove-based house, taking in established names like Danny Tenaglia and Burnski alongside cuts by topical talents Kim Ann Foxman, Subb-An and Hot Natured. Ahmed also contributes material – namely track Your Love and his remix of the aforementioned Foxman (Creature).
Looking ahead, Rinse promises future series releases also featuring “DJs who are respected pioneers or important new artists within the sounds and scenes that Rinse plays and represents.”
Rinse 23 is released by the Rinse label on July 1.
