Legendary US house DJ, producer and vocalist Romanthony, AKA Anthony Moore, has died according to various social media posts and reports.
Whilst Moore’s management is yet to issue an official statement, his sister Mellony posted yesterday: “My baby brother ROMANTHONY aka Anthony Moore passed away 7 May 2013 at his home in Austin TX [Texas]. Our family is shocked with grief.” He was 46.
This followed Twitter and Facebook messages from a number of close studio collaborators including Daone Remmidy, AKA Eve Angel, who had actually posted on Moore’s Facebook page early last week; a post that was only picked up on over the weekend : “I am deeply saddened to Announce the Passing our my Label Owner, Producer, Manager and Family. Our Beloved World Renowned DJ And Producer Romanthony has passed away. What a great run we had Roman gave me my first break into the Music Industry and introduced me to the world as Eve Angel. We were working on an amazing project. I will miss him and he will forever remain in my heart. We had a 20 year stint together and he will never be forgotten. [sic]”
German producer Boys Noize, meanwhile, typed: “Romanthony and me were working on such an amzing song together. he said it was the best song he had ever written. [sic]” And Pete Tong added: “Sad news RIP Romanthony.”
There are no details on cause of death at this time but Mellony Moore has confirmed a memorial service is currently being planned. Romanthony enjoyed a long and successful career, starting out in the early 1990s with a series of classic deep house cuts including The Wanderer, Falling From Grace and Let Me Show You Love. He also recorded a number of albums for labels Azuli, Glasgow Underground and Distance, whilst remixing Daft Punk (with whom he famously collaborated on One More Time, providing vocals) and DJing all over the world.
RIP Mr Moore.
