Danny Tenaglia - Music is the Answer
Clearly a masterpiece from whichever angle you look at it, but I particularly like how the bass just cuts through so cleanly. It’s quite subtle, but really makes the record.
Octave One - Blackwater
An example of a bassline providing a melodic edge, rather than just power and groove. Delicate and beautiful.
George Morel - Let's Groove
George really nailed this one. Probably one of the most instantly recognisable basslines in history. Defined early garage and still gets hammered to this day.
Michael Gray - The Weekend
Funky as fuck! Polish off those dancing shoes…
Funky Green Dogs From Outer Space - Reach For Me
One of the coolest basslines of all time. MURK are rightly thought of as one of the best production outfits in house, and this is a career highlight. Just works every time.
Chez Damier - Can You Feel It (Steve Bug Re-Rub)
Steve Bug took a stone-cold classic and to my mind improved on it, which is saying something. Love the low-end on this, something that Germans do better than everyone else!
Lego - El Ritmo de Verdad
No words for this one really – just pure class. Maybe not as well-known as some of the others on this list, but easily holds its own.
MD X-Spress - God Made me Phunky
The definition of a crowd-pleaser. Genre-defining vocals and a bassline so simple, yet so effective. I could listen to this looped for hours.
Byron Stingly - Get Up! (Mousse T. Remix)
A record that works at home, in the club – anywhere. Sexy as hell and definitely one for the ladies.
