Enlisting the help of some of modern electronic music’s hottest names, Defected Records deliver four brand new remixes of the UKG essential, after acquiring Todd’s catalogue.

Often credited as one of the founding fathers of UK Garage, Todd Edwards’ musical influence on a scene some 6,000 miles from his New Jersey homeland has been well documented. With a career spanning three decades, Todd’s renaissance in recent years has been enriched by his relationship with Defected Records, as the label lovingly re-mastered, re-delivered and re-released his catalogue after acquiring it in 2020.

Now for the first time since the release of his lauded House Masters compilation on the label, Defected deliver four brand new remixes of Todd classic ‘Shut The Door’.

1. Todd Edwards - 'Shut The Door' (Más Tiempo Mix by Skepta & Jammer)

Skepta & Jammer are first on the package with their Más Tiempo remix. With their roots deep in the UK’s grime scene as members of the legendary Boy Better Know, the launch of their Más Tiempo imprint, as well as club shows at the likes of DC10 and Printworks, have demonstrated a rich knowledge of house music. Exhibited further on this flawlessly executed remix, their modern tech house take on the UKG classic with chunky synths, atmospheric builds and a piano-laden interlude allows ‘Shut The Door’ to exist in new club spaces.

2. Todd Edwards - 'Shut The Door' (salute Remix)

Up next, Vienna born and now Manchester based salute steps up to remix ‘Shut The Door’. An artist who has been behind some of the most memorable dancefloor moments of late, with standout releases on Technicolour and Steel City Dance Discs over the last twelve months. With an ability to genre-bend the worlds of UK Speed Garage and French Touch that has defined salute’s distinct sonic aesthetic, this remix demonstrates the joyous, high energy and emotive style of club track salute has become known and loved for.

3. Todd Edwards - 'Shut The Door' (Lucas Alexander Remix)

Also profiling up-and-coming talent with the EP, HE.SHE.THEY and Nervous Records alumnae Lucas Alexander delivers his remix, leaning into the classic UKG elements of the original and Todd’s signature chopped-up style while lacing in a chunky contemporary house bassline that ups the ante for club play.

4. Todd Edwards - 'Shut The Door' (Reiss Ruben Remix)

Finally, new face Reiss Ruben delivers his take on the track. Adding his progressive tip to the package, the Ibiza born-and-raised DJ and producer delivers a
transformative remix that takes the UKG classic to a vastly different sonic space.

Todd Edwards ‘Shut The Door (Remixes) is out via Defected on 16 August.
