Defected’s brand new party Glitterbox is revolutionising clubbing in Ibiza. Focussing on heritage dance music as well as more contemporary sounds, Glitterbox brings glamour to the White Isle whilst refusing to compromise on the most important ingredient of any club night: the music.

Running every Saturday night at Booom Ibiza, Glitterbox has already been described various as having a “highly glamorous atmosphere”, being a “timeless event” and “one of the most enjoyable nights on the island” by some of the islands’ most respected media outlets.

Hercules & Love Affair (Live), Dimitri From Paris, Joey Negro, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Crazy P, Greg Wilson, Kenny Dope, Krankbrother, Mousse T, X-Press 2 and Todd Terry are just some of the DJs and live acts who will be performing at Glitterbox over the coming months, with the remit of crate digging for those timeless records that represent the absolute pinnacle of club music.

To give you a clearer idea of what to expect, here are 10 records that define The Sound of Glitterbox.

Hercules & Love Affair – Do You Feel The Same?
A killer acid line perfectly complimented by a sublime vocal. Contender for house record of the year? It certainly is in our book.

Bill Withers – Who Is He? (Henrick Schwarz Edit)
Schwarz has a knack of turning pop anthems into credible club records (see his reworking of The Jacksons for further evidence), but this is arguably as good as an edit gets.

Inner City – Pennies From Heaven
A career high-point from an era-defining group. That Kevin Saunderson’s Inner City are still going strong today speaks to the electronic legacy they helped created.

Azari & III – Reckless With Your Love
A contemporary record from an utterly unique group. This, alongside their debut ‘Hungry For The Power’ ensured that 2009 was Azari & III’s year.

Josh One – Contemplation (King Britt Funke Mix)
A ten minute epic that builds, builds… and keeps on building. Open up your mind!

Shakedown – At Night
Surely one of the most appropriate songs in house music… who doesn’t feel better at night?

Modjo – Lady (Hear Me Tonight)
It’s not only in the last year or so that house music has troubled the UK charts: this sensational debut from French producer Modjo hit the No.1 spot back in 2000 with this disco-sampling anthem.

Solu Music feat. KimBlee – Fade
A song that just screams Ibiza: leave your preconceptions at home and revel in its overwhelmingly feel-good vibes.

Lykee Li – Dance Dance Dance (Dixon Edit)
Lykee Li is no stranger to the remix treatment from electronic music’s finest, but Dixon’s edit of ‘Dance Dance Dance’ is nigh-on untouchable.

DJ Sneak – You Can’t Hide From Your Bud
Take a Teddy Pendergrass sample, loop the hell out of it, create an idiosyncratic house records of the very highest order. Hats off to you, DJ Sneak, house music would be a more barren pasture without you.
