In the week that sees the release of Bargrooves Summer Sessions Deluxe Vol.3, compiler and mixer Andy Daniell gives us the lowdown on some of the choice cuts from the compilation.

Kraak & Smaak – The Future Is Yours

Whenever the Kraak and Smaak guys get in the studio with Ben Westbeech something special seems to come to fruition and ‘The Future Is Yours’ is a great example. Uplifting pianos work alongside Ben’s vocal, resulting in a track that is 100% summer.

Yousef – Think Twice (Fred Everything Remix)

Two legends of the game complement each other perfectly on this one. Yousef has been killing it as a DJ & producer since winning the Bedroom Bedlam DJ competition back in the 90’s and Fred has released countless stunning records over the years. Here, Fred everything underpins Yos’s vocals with infections chords resulting in one of my favourite records of the year so far.

Aftful & Ridney – Missing You (Ridney Rework)
Mark Artful (previously of Artful Dodger fame) & Ridney have been working hard together down in Southampton & it’s great to get records like this as the result. This record sounds like old school Ibiza to me, totally perfect for this album. Love it.

Kings Of Tomorrow – Fall For You
It’s not like there was every any doubt about Sandy Rivera’s ability to make truly exceptional soulful house records but consistently hitting  the dizzying heights of Finally is never going to be an easy task. But it feels like Sandy has done it with this one. Featuring the beautiful vocals of April Morgan, this is the summer record that has been capturing people’s hearts. It’s been great to see people like Annie Mac & Switch singing this record’s praises & also to see a soulful house cut doing so well.

Digitaria – Shine (Morgan Geist Remix)
Anytime I see Morgan Geist’s name on a record I instantly get excited. He’s the guy behind the incredible Storm Queen project & is also 50% of pioneering disco act Metro Area, so there really is no doubting his credentials. You can hear echo’s of his Storm Queen sound in this remix for Jamie Jones & Lee Foss’s excellent Hot Creations label. This was top of my list of requests for this album.

Romanthony – The Wanderer (Dixon Edit)
I’m so very very glad I was able to get this track for the album for the following reasons: it is one of my all-time favourite records; because Dixon has really dome something special on this remix; and most importantly to remember him as something besides “that guy who once worked with Daft Punk”. Dig deep into his back catalogue and you’ll find nothing but house music gold.

Celsius -  Must Be You
This is a producer I am keeping a close eye on. He’s recently been releasing a string of amazing records on Jaymo & Andy George’s label Moda Black, but it was after hearing Tensnake play this record out that I really fell in love with it. I love how he mixes elements of disco with heavy bass on this record.

Aeroplane – In Her Eyes

Aeroplane just means stunning music full stop. Vito is a master of actually playing in the instrumentals, not just clicking in midi and that is evident in all of his records. He enlisted the legendary vocalist Jamie Principle [Frankie Knuckles – Your Love] on this one and the result is amazing.

James Welsh – Craven
James Welsh is very exciting producer. I first came across him from his release “The Way” on Duff Disco (check it out if you haven’t heard it). If you’re a fan of slow disco vibes you’ll really love his music.

NR& - Broken Toy
Rampa is part of the incredible Keinemusik crew, and extremely exciting musical force at the moment. This is a very special record,  haunting piano and a stunning vocal give me goosebumps every time I listen. Be sure to check out the flip side Enemy, equally essential.
