We continue our look at some of the most dynamic, aspiring photographers on the club scene.

Aspiring British photographer Nick Ensing is, if anything, spiralling towards the heights of first class portrait photography. Having only embraced himself in the world of photography in recent years, Nick arrived behind the lens following a background in graphic design and illustrating. His photography can be best described as an honest depiction of human expression, aura’s and elegance. Like any photographer worthy of their salt, he has an effortless ability to capture a strong and vibrant mood from the subjects he shoots, whether it be a musician or a model, his emphasis on character and style is immediately identified.

Tell us about yourself in the most honest way possible...

I first started clubbing in London in 1988 so House music is in my blood and clubs were often like my second homes. My favourite DJs back in the day were [Danny] Rampling and [Andy] Weatherall.  I've been a graphic designer for a long time and only in the last couple of years have switched over to photography and discovered it to be a creative outlet that i have previously lacked.

How was your passion for photography born?

Just taking photos for fun with a little compact. Then I took one lucky shot of a friend that came out like a 'proper' photograph and realised maybe i could take more like that.

What is your philosophy behind your photography?

A recording of history of time and place. An attempt to represent what I see/feel truthfully. To show the world in ways that people do not necessarily see.

What are your ambitions within photography?

To become a much better portrait photographer. To carry on to be inspired by what i see and to develop techniques to represent it in new ways.

How important is Music to you in your photography?

There is no music in a photograph - obviously! -but I hope people who know where or when the pictures were taken will be reminded of that time and place and its music. The music scene is a great subject whether it's dancers, DJs or bands - the kind of subject that is underestimated for its content, variety and importance.  Sometimes though, it all gets too much and i have to ditch the stupid camera and get out there and just enjoy the dance and the music!
