April Morgan is a London-based singer songwriter, who, after being spotted in a fairly unusual way by Sandy Rivera, is the writer and singer behind the new Kings of Tomorrow track ‘Take Me Back’. With a background in RnB, this is her first foray into the world of house music, but judging by her debut performance it’s a relationship that looks set to blossom. We caught up with her for a quick chat via email about the past, present and future of her career…

Tell us about how you hooked up with Sandy…it was pretty random right?

Yes, it was a very random way to meet! I was actually riding my bike, singing along as you do, when Sandy drove past and heard, which was weird as I didn't realise I was singing that loud! But he came back around and introduced himself, we spoke for a bit then next we were in the studio recording.

Tell us about the track…what’s it about?

So...the track is called 'Take Me Back' and it’s basically about being in a relationship where things are on a bit of a downer and you just really wanna go back to that place where things used to be good and felt right. I'm sure we've all had that feeling!

How does it feel to be working with such a well-respected producer?

Sandy is a great producer and a breath of fresh air. We get along great, so the vibe is always good when we link up. He has a great energy so it is a pleasure working together.

Is this your first house music project or have you done things in the past?

Yes, this is my first house project which I am very excited about. It’s new, fresh and quite the opposite of what I'm used to. I originally come from an RnB background. I have done a number of performances and worked on solo stuff and have also featured on various hip hop projects, so it will be interesting to add a new dynamic to my sound.

You wrote the song as well…what inspires you when you write your songs?

I have to say that it depends on whatever I'm feeling or my mood at the time. General day-to-day life experiences and anything I hear or see will inspire me. Wherever my imagination takes me, I'll go!

Do you have any plans for further collaborations, with Sandy or anyone else?

Definitely! I will be working on some more house music with Sandy, so will be going over to Poland to record with him and I am actually shooting a video for 'Take Me Back' within the next few weeks which I can't wait to do. I am song writing and hope to do a few collaborations very soon.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about?

Only that this is going to be a fun and productive year for me as there are already loads of things on the agenda so hopefully it will get even crazier. This is only the beginning so watch this space...
