Venerable, long-serving Detroit techno artist Terrence Dixon has announced that he is retiring from the studio.
Dixon made the revelation on his Facebook page last week, his simple statement reading: “I’m retired after 20 years of making music. Thank you.” No specific reasons have been given for the wind down.
Dixon took made his studio debut back in 1994 with a string of cult EP releases on Utensil Records. Over his career, Dixon dropped five albums – four as himself, including acclaimed Tresor releases From The Far Future and From The Far Future Pt 2, and last year’s Badge Of Honor. Whilst keeping a lower profile than his immediate minimal peers Robert Hood and Jeff Mills, Dixon would still earn more and more of a following over time thanks to his forward-thinking production style. His other aliases included Population One.
