After a mini hiatus, Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon’s Classic Music Company is returning to the forefront of house music. The label's vast and hugely influential back catalogue has now been fully re-mastered and will be made available in digital format for the very first time across all download platforms.
The catalogue will be released in three large batches – each consisting of over 30 original vinyl EPs and will include tracks and remixes from the likes of Freeform Five, Chris Nazuka, Blaze, Isolee, Rob Mello, Freaks, Nail, JT Donaldson, Metro Area, Brett Johnson, Iduceve, Iz & Diz, Ewan Pearson, SWAG, Honey Dijon, Roy Davis Jnr, Style of Eye, Henrik Schwarz, Trevor Jackson, Mark Farina and many more plus lots of previously unreleased tracks.
“I think the time has come back round again" says Luke of the relaunch. "I think house music is quite relevant within the dance music world; it felt like the moons were in the right place for both of us.”
I think that quality is being appreciated again" adds Derrick "and that people can see the difference between stuff that’s used to sell soft drinks or shoes and stuff that people make because they care. This is honest and real, it’s got a purpose, meaning and mission and Classic is ready to get in there and mix it up.”
With the taste for house back in their mouths, the label will not only re-release its back catalogue but will be signing and releasing new material from friends of the label old and new.
Never a label to conform to commonly held ideas, you can expect the unexpected from Classic in 2011...
