This weekend in Ibiza is all about The Shapeshifters, as they headline Defected In the House at Pacha and drop their very special covermount mix CD for Pacha Magazine.

This Saturday, The Shapeshifters headline their second Defected In The House at Pacha, Ibiza of the season. Last time out they not only played for three hours at Pacha, but also performed a blinding set at Defected’s new residency at the Ushuaia Beach Hotel in Ibiza’s Playa D’en Bossa, treating the few thousand in attendance to an al fresco clubbing experience unlike any other. So how was the experience of playing two of the island’s most exciting venues in a single night?

“Haha! We have had much debate about this in the camp!” laughs The Shapeshifters Simon Marlin. “It’s always a learning curve playing a brand new venue, especially when you are trying to deliver something different for both sets. Ushuaia is a perfectly formed venue and boasts and amazing sound system and great crowd just like Pacha but we definitely play a lot deeper there which is great as we get to play a set that we just can’t get away with at peaktime.

“The key is though, as we found out that day/night not to get over excited and do a bottle of Sambucca at Ushuaia then another at Pacha two hrs later! Get’s a bit sketchy around 5am and we never like to leave Pacha before 7!”

In addition, this weekend sees the release of the August edition of Pacha Magazine, which features an exclusive covermount mix CD from The Shapeshifters themselves. “It’s a collection of tracks and vibes from the Defected family of labels which we feel summed up the Saturday nights at Pacha and covered are whole sound on the nights we play” explains Marlin. “There are uplifting vocals, deeper moments and killer dubs just what we love!”

To warm you up for the weekend’s festivities – whether you’re lucky enough to be heading to the White Isle or not – we’ve got an hour and a half of The Shapeshifters Pacha set on 2nd July for your aural pleasure. Jimpster turns up the Balearic heat on this remix and it’s a peach! Makes me even more excited to hit the White Isle every time I hear it.

The dream team return and deliver their trade mark touch of class to the proceedings. The first time I heard this record I felt like angels were caressing my ears. There’s a reason he’s called The Godfather and it’s because of records like this, they truly remind us all what House Music really is!

Mike updates another classic with ease and drops this drum driven heavy bass version on us at just the right time.

Hard to pick between Maya’s version and this but at this stage of the mix we drop 2000 and One’s remix. Organ line is killer!

Stuffa featuring David A Tobin ‘Proof’ (Original Version)
A totally unique and original record that we can’t get enough of. It shouldn’t quite work, but it so does and once in it get’s right under your skin. Expect to hear this a lot over the summer.

Sonny Wharton & K-Klass ‘Rush Hour’ (Original Mix)
Two worlds collide to maximum effect, really happy for the guys as they deliver a super big room sound without the cheese!

Had too really! The Urbana boys doing what they do best and this track rocks every dance floor we play.

We love a bit of cut up, filtered disco House and this track is the epitome of that groove, our Finish friends Something Good release a summer nugget.

Roy Davis Jr featuring J.Noize & Kaye Fox ‘Enjoy The Ride’ (James Talk & Ridney Remix)
Ridney & James Talk take a leaf out of Alan Braxe’s book and smack us over the head with it! Big, big sounds and a good tip for one of the records of the summer.

The Shapeshifters & Shermanology  ‘Waiting For You’ (Original Mix)
Three massive vocal talents from The Netherlands, Shermanology absolutely smash it for us
