Self-confessed orchestral downbeat ‘jerk’ Chilly Gonzales will offer his next album on July 4.

Gonzales, who rocketed into mainstream hearts and minds last year partly thanks to Apple’s soundtracking of single Never Stop for its UK TV iPad ad campaign and the hit You Tube-circulated video for cut You Can Dance, has been working with film composer brother Christophe Beck on The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales Album. The eccentric record mixes ‘Hollywood swells’ and French horns with stylish beats and urban sensibilities.

Gonzales’ clubland fans include Erol Alkan, Pete Tong and Daft Punk; his back catalogue – including albums The Entertainist and Pianist Envy – has involved Boys Noize and Tiga among collaborators. A number of live concert performances are promised this summer to help promote the new record (out via Gentle Threat/Schmooze).
