Today it’s the turn of Atlanta-based DJ and producer Treasure Fingers to talk us through the tracks that made the cut on his mix for our Miami ’12 compilation. Things get a little twisted from here on in…
Reset! - Don't let the system control you (Summer of Love mix)
One of my favourite Italian acts! They are the best at taking classic and funky house elements, then transforming them into futuristic peak time heaters. I felt like this track in particular would be a great kick off to the mix.
Storm Queen - Look Right Through (MKs Don’t Talk to Me Dub)
I was beyond excited to hear this once I heard MK had remixed it. He definitely hit the mark once again. ‘Look Right Through’ was already an instant classic, but with MK's signature warm sound added in it will stay in my sets for years to come.
Osunlade - Envision (ARGY Vocal Mix)
Another shining example of classic garage inspired house that also sounds super fresh and cutting edge. Such an infectious organ riff & vocal. This one is hard to get out of my head.
Mowgli feat. Amber Jolene - Back In The Day
Mowgli is back at it! This bassline just grabbed me and didn't let me go. The top notch production and such a catchy vocal, I see a huge future for this track.
Claptone – Cream
When I first heard this, it threw me a big curve ball. I had no idea what to expect, but once it dropped, it turned so deep and hypnotic. I love the way it builds throughout the whole song.
Childish Gambino - Heartbeat (Treasure Fingers Remix)
This is one of my most current remixes. It's a bit more techy than my usual sound, but I tried to still keep it as funky as possible. I felt like it would be a perfect transitional track to go from some deeper house into some bigger disco sounds.
Geisha Twins - Get Down
Familiar samples flipped into perfect disco house aimed directly for the dancefloor. These guys are coming up fast & get better with every new track they do. Keep an eye out!
Roman D'amour - Make Love Tonight (Lifelike Re-edit)
Lifelike is one of my favourite producers and it really shows here with an edit that's not too far of a departure from the original version, but he perfects it. This track goes off every single time I play it.
Broke One - The Empire
I know it's a subtle thing but I LOVE the snare shuffle on this. The way it mixes in sounds heavenly to me, and I'm also a huge sucker for chopped up vocals.
Toni Toni Lee - Girl I Used to Know (VIP mix)
One of my top tunes from last year, this is vocal house at its finest. The original version is amazing, but I felt the VIP mix fit much better on this compilation.
Loaded Dice - Warm
Pure vibes on this one! ‘Warm’ is actually the word that first comes to mind when I try to describe it. More stabby pianos and super nice vocal chops, my two weaknesses.
Treasure Fingers - Rooftop Revival
Speaking of chopped up vocals…! Here's an upcoming single of mine; this was one of those tracks that just came together in one late night 4-hour studio session. Probably one of my most simple tracks, but I feel the groove is thick on this one.
Loaded Dice - It's Alright
From the same EP as ‘Warm’, ‘It's Alright’ has more of a disco vibe. I love the percussion on this and the way it builds into the big piano bits.
Treasure Fingers & Malente - Au Revue
This is from my latest EP collaboration with Malente. Our mission was to take some disco loops and freak them into a dancefloor frenzy. We went through a lot of revisions on this one, slowly tweaking it to build really nicely through the whole song. I love when the horns finally emerge in the 2nd half.
Aaron Perez & Matt Soda - Fall Apart
This track is damn near perfect. One those songs where if I was asked to remix it, I would have to turn it down because there's nothing I can think of doing differently to it. This won't be leaving my crate any time soon.
Rubix - Soul Train (Ian Pooley Remix)
I'm a big Ian Pooley fan & have also been loving all the new Rubix tunes, so this match up is spot on for me. Ian really nailed that classic disco house sound on this one.
Treasure Fingers & Malente – Crusaders
Here's the lead single from myself and Malente’s EP. This is the first track we ever did together. I met him one night while on tour in Australia and the next day he emailed me a rough Ableton session and suggested we collaborate. I jumped on it and we sent files back and forth until this beast was born.
