Defected Virtual Festival presents the New Year’s Eve edition of We Dance As One, the final instalment in a three-part live-streamed music event from our DJ Mag ‘Best of British’ Award-nominated virtual party. On 31 December, sets from Dom Dolla, Eats Everything, Gorgon City, Inner City (Live), Low Steppa, Roger Sanchez, Sam Divine and Sonny Fodera will be broadcast from socially distanced locations around the world, to close out the year where virtual parties reigned supreme.
The third instalment of We Dance As One will also offer a sneak peak into our brand new London HQ, where at least one of the artists will grace the decks in the brand-new media and content creation hub, due for official opening in 2021. This new space showcases our dedication to advancing live stream output and virtual event capabilities during this time.
After the cancellation of our New Year’s Eve show at Printworks London, two acts will stream from the phenomenal venue, Solotoko founder Sonny Fodera and platinum-selling duo Gorgon City, who will be reunited for the first time since the pandemic began in March, previously live streaming from across the Atlantic. Also among the acts performing is legendary Detroit collective Inner City, streaming from Motor City venue Elektricity ahead of the release of joint Defected debut with Idris Elba ‘No More Looking Back’ in early 2021. Continuing the international affair, Roger Sanchez will be streaming from Miami, while Australian hit-maker Dom Dolla will be playing from Melbourne, Australia.

Designed to raise awareness for the plight of the events business in the UK and around the world due to the pandemic, our We Dance As One events in October and November saw over 2 million viewers tune in from all corners of the globe, providing some much needed uplift in the wake of more lockdowns and restrictions. The whole series is supported by the Night Time Industries Association and Association For Electronic Music, to show solidarity with an industry that has largely been ignored and dismissed by the UK government.
Taking this opportunity to again bring on board workers who have been displaced, the New Year’s Eve event will be produced by over 25 production techs, videographers and creatives assisting the team, who have either lost work or faced redundancy as a result of events cancellations and club closures. The teams will work socially distanced behind the scenes at the various live-streaming locations around the world, from London’s Printworks and Defected HQ to Elektricity Detroit.
We will use the live stream as promotion for the individuals, to advertise their skills and give them some well-deserved recognition. A token of appreciation to reflect the new era music company’s wish to support those who have been affected.
We Dance As One 3.0 will be live streamed across Defected’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitch platforms on Thursday 31 December.
