Yoruba Records has been releasing innovative and original House/Soul music since 1999 with a core musical style centring on the deep and soulful. The label was founded by the inimitable international DJ, producer and musician Osunlade. A revered and respected artist due to his skilled musicianship and eye on quality house. Osunlade has often drawn on African and world influences in the labels output.
It is the label that brought us the work of the celebrated artists including Nadirah Shakoor, Erro, Djinji Brown, Santos, Piscean Group and Afefe Iku.
Yoruba’s newest release - dedicated to the loving memory of Yoruba artist Jimmy Abney - is Remixed and Recovered, a personal collection of rare and previously unreleased tracks made available for the first time by the artists closely connected to the Yoruba family. Selected by Osunlade himself and all unmixed, only a limited run of 1000 has been pressed, making this album quite a special find.
Stand out cuts include Jimmy Abney 'Crazy Love' (K2 Edit), Mellow Madness 'Now Your Calling (DJ Spinna Remix), Erro 'She Went Away' (Yoruba Soul Mix) and Osunlade 'The Day We Met For Coffee (Yotam Avni Remix) plus an upfront Maddslinky mix of the brand new Santos track; 'Yo Soy', which is due for release on the forthcoming Santos album on Yoruba.
