Hot on the heels of the release of the Director’s Cut update of the seminal ‘Your Love’, this remix package brings you three new re-imaginings aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

The re-release of the track, which included re-sung vocals from Jamie Principle and a complete re-recording from Knuckles and Eric Kupper under their Director’s Cut guise was as accomplished as you would expect. Now, it’s the turn of the remixes to take centre stage.

First up The Shapeshifters combine a dark, driving bass groove with a typically euphoric breakdown which makes full use of the unmistakable arpeggio synth, but with added keys for an even more hands in the air experience.

“I can’t recall the exact time I first heard ‘Your Love’” says The Shapeshifters’ Simon Marlin of the record, “but that riff has been imprinted on my brain since 1987 so I can only imagine it was in some warehouse in London a long time ago. That time period is a little hard to recall today!!

“’Your Love’ has one of the most recognisable riffs and basslines known to dance music and, of course, Jamie's unique vocal sound.  These elements, and the way the record has continued to inspire and be re-cycled, have continued to keep 'Your Love' firmly in the consciousness of subsequent dance generations. It is timeless!!”

A track as embedded in dance music culture as Your Love needs some pretty careful handling when it comes to a remix, so how does one go about the task?

“Basically, with great care!! We were lucky enough to hear all the other mixes before we started ours so we knew that there was a mix needed that was a bit heavier. We also wanted to add something extra that wasn't in the other mixes, so adding a new keys element that uplifted as much as the original was the task in hand. We are over the moon with the finished result!!” he adds.

Next up, Belocca & Soneec go deep, with a rolling bassline and rhythmic percussive stabs creating an infectious groove, punctuated by beautifully understated use of the vocal, before URH – one half of the duo –  goes soulfully tribal, with a mix that explores the lighter side of the house spectrum.

“‘Your Love’ is a classic because of the legendary artists involved and because it is so widely recognised by so many people” says Belocca “and hopefully with the new mixes it can be a new hit. For me now it’s working very well and both our mix and Soneec's URH remix are getting great response on the dance floor.”
