On Monday 24th June, the third of the season’s Defected presents DFTD parties at The Ushuaia Tower sees us join forces with London party outfit Krankbrother, with DJ Tennis, Thugfucker, Los Suruba, Sam Divine and Krankbrother themselves taking control of proceedings.

Krankbrother (aka Danny and Kieran Clancy) is a London-based party and DJ duo specialising in ‘off location’ electronic music, showcasing artists in unique locations such as rooftops, closed streets, beachfronts, mountain tops, yachts, theatres and railway arches. Krandbrother regularly host some of the world’s finest underground DJs and live acts including Josh Wink, Magda, Four Tet, Daphni, Andrew Weatherall, Ellen Allien, Marc Houle and Dyed Soundorom to name a few.

Having previously hosted stages and performed at some of the world’s greatest clubs and festivals including Watergate, Sankeys, Fabric, D Edge, Bestival, Lovebox, Secret Garden Party and Eastern Electrics, we are very excited to present two DFTD collaborations with Krankbrother at The Ushuaia Tower this summer.

Kieran and Danny are no strangers to expert club curation and for this first episode they will be joined by a host of underground house luminaries including co-founder and A&R for the celebrated Life & Death record label, DJ Tennis. Tennis’ rise to prominence over the last few years is the result of two decades of pure hard work and diligence; from recording bands, organizing parties and DJing at his local tennis club where he used to play as a semi-pro player (the Tennis moniker comes from his passion for the sport), to producing music for theatre, movie soundtracks and TV commercials, since Life & Death’s launch in 2010 he has been one of the most in-demand DJs in the world. His appearance at Berlin’s infamous Panorama Bar earlier this year was typically eclectic and assured, and his set in the stunning outdoor setting of The Ushuaia Tower has all the makings of one of the standout performances of the season.

Similarly instrumental in the expeditious rise of Life & Death have been Thugfucker. The label’s first release was ‘Disco Gnome’ – expertly remixed by Tale Of Us – since when neither label nor artist have looked back. A further collaboration with Tale of Us (Visionquest) soon followed in ‘Morgana’, which was promptly labelled Essential New Tune by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show, while back to back sets from Panorama Bar to Fabric, BPM to Sonar and Coachella to DC10 have been rapturously received.

Spanish duo Delmar and Alvaro have been spinning and producing records since they formed ‘Los Suruba’ soon after studying music and design together in Madrid. Re-locating to Ibiza last summer, they have enjoyed a meteoric rise to the upper floor of the underground house music scene and along the way have rocked crowds with fluid and versatile house. Los Suruba have released on a wide selection of highly regarded imprints (think Los, Get Physical, Noir Music, Darkroom Dubs) and after rocking a crowd of several thousand at the ANTS opening party a week ago, The Ushuaia Tower is primed to welcome these new local heroes.

Support on the night will be coming from Sam Divine, who is herself fast becoming an Ibiza institution. An Ushuaia resident in her third season, Sam on 10th June she played a superb set at Defected presents DFTD opening party at The Ushuaia Tower, so expect more heavy basslines and upfront house for her second appearance of the season.

An emerging theme for this summer 2013 in Ibiza is collaboration; conceptual line-ups with interesting combinations of artists teaming up on each other’s nights are appearing in a host of venues. Defected presents DFTD in association with Krankbrother is the first in a series of events in which we will be teaming up with some of the finest and most respected labels and parties in the world, with further nights confirmed alongside Dennis Ferrer’s Objektivity, Noir Music, Osunlade’s Yoruba Records, Catz N Dogz’ Pets Recordings, Classic Music Company plus artist collaborations with the likes of Dimitri From Paris throughout the season.
