Following the success of the relaunched Faith Fanzine, the cult free zine now launches its own imprint, debuting with its first release, a reissue of the classic ‘Cathedrals’ by DC LaRue on 2nd April on 2 x 12” vinyl, following with a full digital release on the 16th.

Relaunching to educate a new generation of house fans, an imprint is the natural next step for the fanzine crew, who’ve previously released compilations on NRK, BBE and Azuli and hosted years of legendary London parties across the capital.

The first release on the new Faith label sees Jamie 3:26, Maurice Fulton, Greg Wilson and Faith’s own Terry Farley & Dave Jarvis remix DC LaRue’s 1976 ‘Cathedrals’, arguably one of the most enduring club records of the disco era. Inspired by nights spent at David Mancuso’s iconic NYC party  The Loft, where DC proclaimed “these places, these discos, are the new cathedrals,” it was this epiphany that sent him straight back to his Manhattan studio where he wrote the seminal disco anthem.

Taken from the original multi tracks that DC  created that hot summer of ‘76, Maurice Fulton takes a beautifully eccentric left field view, Jamie 3:26 jacks it up chi-style but without ever losing the soulful essence of the track, and Faith's Farley & Jarvis take a different approach choosing to loop the big hooks under some fresh 909 house beats. Greg Wilson’s edit has been a “heads’ favourite” for some time, but is now remastered on quality vinyl.

Speaking of the release, DC LaRue said: “Since 1976, the music and lyrics of ‘Cathedrals’ speak for themselves and the consciousness from which it evolved. It's track and vocal have been sampled countless, hundreds of times for the last 40 odd years. It has done well representing the many dancers, the dance clubs, the dance music and the dance culture of the 1970s and 1980s …  I honestly had no idea at the time that it would endure like it has, proving that disco is not, nor never has been ‘dead’. Quite the opposite. DISCO LIVES!”

2020 marked a shiny new chapter for Faith, as it was relaunched after a fourteen year hiatus by London label Defected Records. Originally running from 1999 – 2006, Faith gathered a fierce cult following and spawned a notorious online forum that set “the agenda for the next decade of the Internet”. The free fanzine’s new print run was snapped up within three weeks, with stockists as far and wide as Tokyo, Chicago, Berlin and across the UK, with cover stars Danny Tenaglia and Paul Weller on the Autumn and Winter issues.

Alongside the debut release from the label, Faith also prepare to launch the Spring issue of the fanzine mid April, the cover star and feature contents will be revealed very soon.
