At Defected we always acknowledge the rich musical history that came before us; the records, the labels, the producers and the DJs that have shaped the culture in which we operate. Now, we proudly launch D-Store Recommends - a brand new addition to the D-Store's vinyl offering.

Kicking things off with a broad range of titles, this new offering is curated with our customers in mind and are all record collection essentials. Classics from the house and disco vaults such as Groove Committee 'Dirty Games', Black Ivory 'Mainline' and and Jean Carn 'Was That All It Was' are joined by contemporary essentials like Lovebirds 'Want You In My Soul' and a number of Joey Negro's 'Remixed With Love' packages.

“The appetite for vinyl and limited edition formats has grown significantly in recent months. The Defected Store has a knowledgeable patronship so we have to extended our bespoke collectable music offering to “recommended” releases, outside of our owned labels, that specifically appeal to our core audience.” - Simon Dunmore

George Duke - I Want You For Myself (Tom Moulton Mix)

Lovebirds featuring Stee Downes - Want You In My Soul
This is a modern day anthem, a modern day classic, released in 2011 so just a mere 9 years old but a record which absolutely lifts a club whenever it is played and possibly one of the best soulful house records of the modern era. - Simon Dunmore

Joey Negro - Remixed With Love 2019 Sampler

'Another record where the multi-tracks have been found, its been remixed and remastered, Tamika Jones ‘Can’t Live Without your Love’. Joey Negro probably leading the way with his ‘Remixed With Love’ projects and albums, which have been very successful. He’s made many classic records playable sonically, syncopated and mixable for today’s dancefloors. An absolute anthem at Glitterbox, taking the roof off whenever it was played, and definitely something you need in your life.'

Roisin Murphy - Incapable

Joey Negro - Remixed With Love

Horse Meat Disco - Waiting For You To Call

Harvey Mason - Groovin You / Modaji / Till You Take My Love

If you were a house head in the late 90’s you would recognise part of this record. It was basically a baseline sampled by Gusto for a track called ‘Disco’s Revenge’. The original track, Harvey Mason, ‘Grooving You’, produced in 1979, and just an iconic, disco recording.

Purple Disco Machine - In My Arms

Jean Carn - Was That All It Was / Don’t let It Go To Your Head

'I often am quoted saying that the Philadelphia International is my favourite all-time label. So much class, so much quality, Gamble & Huff are such amazing song-writers and producers, home to Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Teddy Pendergrass, The OJ’s, Lou Rules, the list goes on… this is Jean Carn, an amazing singer and favourite vocalist of mine.  There are two sides to this 12”, ‘Was That All This Was’, an incredible piece of disco, and ‘Don’t Let It Go To Your Head’ on the flip-side, which is an amazing soul cut.' - Simon Dunmroe

Sinnamon - I Need You Now
